Trip Overview
Upper Mustang Trek is one of the most popular trails of Nepal that takes the travelers to the last forbidden former kingdom of Nepal, which is still preserved from outside influences. This trip requires a special entry permit issued by the Department of Immigration, Nepal, and requires at least two foreign travelers to obtain it.
Tiji festival is an auspicious festival of Upper Mustang area which is celebrated to mark the victory of good over the evil. This festival is celebrated in May every year but the date varies according to the lunar calendar. The story is depicted with a series of dances and prayers are performed from the monks of Lo Manthang's monastery.

Itinerary
Commencing this trip
Starting from Pokhara (200m west to Kathmandu, flight time: 30 minutes/ drive time: 6-7 hrs), you can either take a direct flight to Jomsom or a jeep there, depending on your time, budget, and preference. The trail to the restricted former kingdom of Mustang starts by crossing Kagbeni where you will need to have a document of permission to enter this restricted area and accompanied by a government licensed trekking guide with you. No excuse is provided or entry allowed if the foreign travelers are not fulfilling these criteria. FYI, the restricted area permit cost for the first 10 days will be USD 500.00 (fixed) per person and an additional day will cost USD 50.00 per person per day.
