Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu.

Welcome to Kathmandu. You will be received by one of our office representatives at the TIA exit section and escort you to your hotel afterward.

Depending on your arrival time, you will have the chance to stroll around the places nearby your hotel on your own.

Day 02: Permits preparation and trip briefing day.

Today you will have a free day in Kathmandu while your specialist will take time to arrange permits for your trek. You will have time to explore around the Kathmandu valley on your own or enjoy the cultural tour with an experienced tour guide arranged by Trek Guiders.

In the evening, you will be met by your specialist in your hotel lobby. S/he will introduce you to your guide for the trek and brief you shortly about your trek, things to do/ not to do, and any optional activities you may enjoy during the trip. You can ask any queries or share feelings with your specialist during the briefing.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Drive to Nayapul (1010m). Trek to Birethanti (1150m)

The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara will take roughly around 30 minutes. You will be picked up by your trek guide in your hotel for transfer to the Kathmandu domestic airport reaching there at least 1 hour before your flight time.

Upon reaching Pokhara, you will directly drive towards Nayapul, the trek starting point, if you have no luggage to be store kept at your reserved Pokhara hotel after the trek completion. The drive to Nayapul from Pokhara will around 1-hour drive depending on road traffic. From Nayapul, you will follow a ridgeline in the lower foothills of the Annapurna with surrounding views of Pokhara valley. The route then drops down to the Modi River Valley, where you will see Sanctuary Lodge located with magnificent views of sacred and unclimbed Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).

After lunch at the lodge, you can take an optional walk to explore the Birethanti village or just have some relaxing rest time enjoying the incredible views.

Day 04: Trek from Birethanti to Ghandruk (2010m)

After your breakfast at Sanctuary Lodge, you will start walking through the outlying farms following the Modi River Valley. While you start ascending, you will pass through small hamlets, terraced rice fields and lush forests with spectacular views of the surrounding valley. After a relaxing walk of 5 - 6 hours, you will reach the Himalaya Lodge at Ghandruk. You can spend the rest of the time relaxing enjoying the close-up views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 05: Exploration day at Ghandruk.

Today, to enjoy the sunrise view from Ghandruk, you will need to wake up early. Watch the sunrise over Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and the Fishtail mountain.

After a hearty breakfast, you can walk with your guide to explore this beautiful Gurung Village. Ghandruk was once a major recruitment center for the famous Gurkha soldiers. The women of Ghandruk maintain a local industry of weaving traditional Nepalese rugs. Also, visit the Gurung museum if the time permits.

Day 06: Trek from Ghandruk to Landruk (1565m)

After breakfast at Ghandruk, start your day walk towards Landruk located at an altitude of 1565m. The trail descends steeply to the banks of Modi River. Here, you will be at the base of the cliffs where the famed honey hunters of Nepal climb on ropes to collect the honey.

After crossing the Modi River via a suspension bridge, you will be walking further for an hour to reach the village of Landruk. This village too offers more glorious views of the Annapurna Range. If you are feeling energetic to hike more, your guide can take you out to explore this area after your lunch at La Bee Lodge.

Day 07: Trek from Landruk to Majhgaon (1400m)

After breakfast, you will leave the Bee Lodge & start trek to Majhgaon. Today's trek contours the side of the hill, with small ups and downs, passing through villages and farmland. Trek time to the Lodge is about 4 hours. You’ll reach the Gurung Lodge in time for lunch with optional afternoon hikes to the surrounding villages.

Day 08: Trek from Majhgaon to Dhampus (1525m)

This morning, you will be trekking through the unspoiled village of Patlekhet. While walking through the sub-tropical forests of orchids, rhododendrons, and magnolias, you will get to stop at the village of Pothana where many Tibetan traders live and sell their souvenirs. After walking about 4.5 hours, you will arrive at the Basanta Lodge. From the lodge, there are sweeping views of the entire Annapurna Range. After lunch at the lodge, there will be an optional walk through the old village of Dhampus.

Day 09: Trek from Dhampus to Phedi. Drive back to Pokhara.

After an early breakfast, you will depart along the ridge & descend through the wooded hillside and terraced farmland to the valley floor. After walking for around 1.5 hours, you will see your vehicle waiting for you to drive back to Pokhara. On the way back to Pokhara, the vehicle can stop on request at the Tibetan refugee camp where you will have time to explore and see the handicraft household goods which are also sold by the refugee shopkeepers to earn an income.

Upon reaching Pokhara, you have rest of your time at leisure. You can walk out with your guide to explore this famous city and enjoy the lakeside market and the cafes.

Day 10: Fly back to Kathmandu.

Depending on your flight time, you will be picked up by your guide for transfer to airport and flight back to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be escorted to your hotel. Rest of the day is free for relaxation or organize some day tours.

Day 11: Depart Kathmandu.

You will be picked up from your hotel 3.5 hours prior to your international flight time by one of our office representatives to escort you to the TIA. Trip concludes !!

The Luxury trip to Ghandruk, Annapurna region starts and ends at Pokhara. Pokhara can be accessed from Kathmandu either by half an hour flight or via 6-7 hours surface transfer in tourist bus or private transfer.

As this plan is categorized in luxury trekking section, you will not need to rush for reaching your next spot to make sure you get a room in the lodge. All the rooms in the properties of Ker and Downey Lodges are pre-booked and secured. Just make sure that you ask your guide for pack lunch if you are planning for an even slower walk and plenty of rest time before you reach next destination.

Best time to do this trip

For best views of landscape and mountains, traveling in Spring and Autumn time is always recommended. These two seasons offer the best weather for pleasant traveling via flight and surface too. Organizing this trip during summer/ monsoon time is not recommended as the trails will be muddy and slippery with very limited views of the mountains and landscapes due to thick clouds and fogs.
